Choose the appropriate B-School in Bangalore to best enhance your career

There have been ample examples of institutions acting as catalytic, bringing out the best in the students, and transforming them to professional excellence. This is true more so in professional education for management career aspirants. That is why, it brings to the fore the significance of choosing apt B-Schools in Bangalore for those who prefer Bangalore as their destination for pursuing MBA education.
The presence of IIM-B in Bangalore has really helped a big way in nourishing management education in Bangalore. Many well-known private B-Schools in Bangalore have either modeled or imbibed IIM-B culture into their curriculum. Consequently, students have been beneficiaries in terms of idealistic form of management education. Moreover, it sometimes has made the choice inconsequential at least among top or elite list of B-Schools in Bangalore.
In spite of this homogeneous pattern across the B-Schools in Bangalore, there is still a fair degree of variance which should interest and be the factors to determine the kind of B-School in Bangalore that students would eventually join:
  • Foremost of such factors is the infrastructure in terms of modern classroom, exclusively library, feel-at-home hostel facilities, etc.
  • Second, quality of the faculty and their academic background needs to be known before hand. It always prudent to make a fact-file or know whether your prospective B-School has academicians of repute, scholars, and corporate leaders as guest faculty.
  • Finally, the degree of corporate orientation and placement history should serve as yardstick to measure your prospective B-School’s goodwill.
While Welingkar, Symbiosis, International School of Management Education, Christ College, Krupanidhi Management Institute, etc. have ranked high on these factors, International Institute for Business Studies (IIBS) has emerged as distinguished one with incredible performance in placement of its students in lucrative corporate positions. IIBS’ world-class infrastructure, learned faculty, and regular corporate interaction & orientation have been the force behind IIBS’ emergence as truly a most-sought-after B-School in Bangalore to enhance one’s career avenues.

How can the business-model-canvas help with MBA?

Many of you might or might not be aware of the business-model-canvas. Though it is more of a business model used by entrepreneurs or start ups to provide a coherent view of their business prospect, we can technically use it to evaluate your intention of doing an MBA from a top MBA college or B school. It is a very effective tool which you can be used to its best potential and have your check list ready to be ticked off!

Following are the nine key parameters which can greatly help with MBA:
  • Prospective colleges/B-Schools: Short list a list of colleges based on your preferences and also based on their competency in providing an MBA program. As you research more, chances are high you might stumble upon areas you haven’t thought are important for an MBA from a student’s perspective.
  • Point of contacts for the colleges: Figure out the alumni or staff of the college to get better insights.
  • Value proposition: How does your value proposition coincide with the college or how it can add value to your existing set.
  • Selection: The criteria of selection in each of the shortlisted school such as minimum qualification, competitive examination scores/percentile, etc.,.
  • Meeting the criteria: An action plan to meet the selection criteria of each college.
  • Association with the college: Activities or events in the college which you can participate/contribute to.
  • References: Few colleges require strong references from the corporate or academic sphere. Keep the best ones in the list.
  • Budget: The most crucial of all – evaluate an estimated average cost required per year for the MBA program.
  • Arranging funds: Figure out and set the sources of funds for successfully completing your management program.
The above business-canvas-model for MBA is a tool that shall keep you on track of your application journey apart from systematically approaching a wonderful learning path ahead.  Good luck!
